Painful red eyes
The eyes are a vital organ and evolutionarily, we have developed millions of nerve endings to help protect the eye.
This enables us to be very sensitive to small changes in the condition of our own eyes.
There are a variety of reasons why we might develop painful red eyes:
- Inflammation including uveitis
- Acute rise in eye pressure/acute glaucoma
If you develop persistently sore, painful, red eyes or a change in vision, it is important to seek medical help quickly.
